Default Into the unknown - London Barbican exhibition

This is an exhibition of Science Fictioin I went to yesterday - and it says it will tour internationally when the London run ends, so I thought others might be interested.

In brief it's a huge pile of SF artefacts from film and TV, of an impressive range. To give you an idea, it has stuff from, (amongst many others), Alien, Star Wars, Star Gate, HR Giger's designs, Moon, Lost in Space, Soviet technology magazines, Japanese tin robots, Star Trek, Ray Harryhausen stop motion miniatures, Tweaky from lycra era Buck Rogers, the original "Luna" from destination Moon, Frau im Mond, Interstellar, Land of the Giants, Sunshine, 2000 AD, and many, many more.

If anything, it's a bit too broad (Does anyone care about Land of the Giants?), but there's a lot of good stuff in here. The collection of Space suits is particularly impressive. (Though I have to ask - see attached - why do the space suits from Alien have cricket pads?!!?)

More on my blog,
Nick

I wish I could see that. I'm old enough to remember Land of the Giants, I didn't like it but I remember it. As for what they used it doesn't suprise me, the fx guys back then would use what ever they could make work.
