Very nice work. It's a minor miracle that there aren't any Lightwave based models of the Ares. I'd give it a shot, but that is still beyond my modeling skills.....

I can't wait either for Axanar though, and I'm hoping it all turns out for the best!

And why are there no LW models of the Ares and its sister ships(short of the Enterprise)?

I'm actually in the process of finishing off a LW conversion of Dave's model, finished doing the texturing part, just working on the light rig for the bussards, not having much luck with that yet, I need to rethink how to make them look like the ones in the film. I've also altered the mesh slightly, just the impulse engines, to make them a bit bigger so they look a bit more like the original models ones, I'll contact Dave when it's finished to see if it'd be ok to release it here

I'll get a render ready later to show you all how it's looking right now

I've also nearly finished converting Dave's D6 mesh as well, that one is a lot easier, there's only a bit of tweaking of the textures needed to complete that one.

Cool render! I too can't wait for Axanar. I'm also a donor. I love the Ares and think its a cool precursor to the Reliant.

Yeah, Reliant, and even Akira-class (which was conceived as more of a tactical design; I believe classed as a heavy escort of sort). Definitely one of the better TOS based designs I've seen in a long while!
