Well, since the contest has extended itself until the end of September, I thought I'd take a break from Starfury stuff and come up with a new version of the raider fighter.

The way this is evolving it looks like the craft has had the following history (at least in my head)

1. Unmanned space/atmosphere strike craft. (It looks like the X-45 UCAS)

2. Bought as surplus and converted by space miners into a piloted, space/atmosphere shuttle to circumvent corporate surcharges and taxes on mineral transport. (The miners would mine the asteroids, sell to the corporations, which would then transport the cargo to the surface. This way, the miners could sell directly to the customer on the ground, cutting out the middleman)

3. Bought as surplus again and converted into an ad-hoc raiding and attack craft by hacking off airfoils, adding equipment, guns, extra thrusters to make a purely non-atmospheric ship, but with an atmospheric lineage.

3a. Used by the raiders as an atmospheric shuttle/attack craft for planetary missions.

I'm going to build it as version #2, then start hacking off panels and adding extra thrusters and guns, so the final version #3 will closely resemble the final profile of the original fighter.

Coolness!

I don't know if you are aware of this, but this ship was called the Zephyr from the early days (at least the design in the show). Maybe some history on how that came into being?

I'm aware of the Zephyr/Belt Alliance origins, my backstory will take all that into account if I ever get it done!

Thanks for the compliments!

If you don't plan to finish this, it would be nice to put it in the upload section. I would love to play with those models.
