Default MacBook Pro boot issue

Guys, I wonder if anyone can help...

I recently obtained a late 2013 MacBook Pro, and have ran Bootcamp to let me dual-boot between MacOS Mojave and Windows 10 Pro. Everything has worked as planned, except the laptop defaults to Windows 10!

Normally, it should stay on the OS I last used, but unless I hold down the Option key before the boot sequence and choose Mojave, it continually reverts back to Windows!

To make matters worse, the MacOS partition isn't visible to the Bootcamp app under Windows... I haven't used MacOS on a regular basis since the early 90s, so I'm no expert.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

If you hold down the Option key when you boot, it should take you to the Startup Manager and you should be able to pick the default boot drive.

That's the problem... Selecting Mojave at the boot menu ONLY changes the current boot cycle. Rebooting afterwards triggers booting to Windows!

Hmm. I've had settings stick to something other than what I've set them to, even after being reset numerous times, but never the boot disc.

Here's some Apple support suggestions: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT202796

Didn't realize that you could set the default drive from within System Preferences. If that doesn't work, I might try resetting the NVRAM / PRAM via the boot options.

If none of that works, it may be on the windows side of things. Not sure how you find Bootcamp control panel in W-10, but once you do, click on the settings. If at some point a User Account Control dialog pops up, click Yes. Select the default startup disc and reboot. *Fingers crossed*

Okay, I've followed the instructions and have managed to change the active boot partition from the BOOTCAMP to the Macintosh HD volume. Strange, as the only significant change made on either partitions were PC and MacOS installations of Office 2019 I got from work.

Anyway, everything appears to be running normally. Thanks for the assistance.

The next project is to add a decent Thunderbolt dock. The MacBook has dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, and I'm looking for one that's reasonably compact - not much bigger than the Surface Dock, offering a similar range of ports. These are the two I'm currently looking at...

OWC 12 Port Thunderbolt 2 Dock:

CalDigit TS2 Thunderbolt 2 Docking Station: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00R4NBK..._t0z1BbRQWCG97
