Looks pretty good so far! Hard to give you any feedback tho….the image is a little small and would need your reference image for comparison or is it a fictional weapon?

Lots of cool concepts, I particularly like the scorpion class fighter…you should carry on with this one, see how far you can take it

Yes you are right, but it seems that I like the utilitarian side of the design.something like the Halo cruisers..Who knows were I'll go.With each project Itry to improve.
Regarding the Scorpion,I've lost the file because of a hard drive crash.I've retrieved about 96% of the files.

Its a good effort, but you need to try and work on the lighting. You have a bright, coloured light source in the background throwing very specific shadows, yet your ships are lit brightly from above and casting sharp shadows on the other ship. Try placing your main light in a position where it is in line with the painted sun, and then set up a couple of dimmer fill lights off to the sides of the camera to fill in the details. It will make it look like the backdrop and ships are in the same scene, and make for a more dramatic image.

Hi again Meugen. I saw your latest attempt, and while it is an improvement I thought I should show you a basic 3-light scene so you can see exactly what I mean.

The first picture shows an overview of my simple scene, which is some ships and 3 lights in the foreground, and a background image of a planet with a bright light. I removed the backdrop so you could see the lights more easily.

I have set the Key light behind the ships in the direction of where the main light in the scene is coming from. I have set it very bright (120%) and given it a little colour to match the light in the backdrop. I want it to give an outline around the ships but not completely light them, since the sun is way behind the ships and would not shine straight down on them.

The fill light on the right I have set to about 40% brightness and given it colour to match the scene. It is in a position to fill in the dark areas on the fighters so we can see some detail, but does not overpower the Key light. The fill light on the left is set even lower, 25% or so, and has been given a blue tinge and angled to fill in a bit more of the detail on the fighters that is not lit by the other fill. The main shadows in the scene will come from the proper direction, and the fills will cast little shadow that will be noticed.

If there were strong colours in the scene I would use the fill lights to simulate that, and let the Key light pick the models out from the background. The example picture isn't too good, but it was done in 5 minutes. I dont have the background you used, it was the best I could come up with at short notice. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks Axeman for your tips. But the three lights rig I know about it.In the second render you will see the primary light.
In Blender I have to adjust the energy,as you will see in the second render, both secondary ligts are at0.5.You will also see the lights how I rigged.
Tell me what do you think.

I would spread out the fill lights more, and maybe move the key light more to the right of the picture so that the edges of the fighters will get some of the bright light. Just a glow along the edges would be enough to pick them out from the background.

Your light might not be coming exactly from where the sun is, but this is art and not total realism. If you do it right it wont stand out to people as being wrong, it will just look cool. Are your fighters shiny at all, or do they have a matte finish on the hull? If its a little too matte to take a shine, I'd think about maybe changing that a little.

I've completed the Africanus replenishment class ship.
If you wonder how the resupply process is done, look at wings. There are three extendable corridors.
What do you think?
