I imported it as well. Most of the surfaces are already in place, they just need minor tweaking and flipped polygon fixing etc.

I have seen some pretty amazing pictures out there that have been made with the model.
It looks spot on.

I want to put lighting and change a few things. Like putting a pic of the Shinzou bridge I found on the brindle window.

Speaking of Discovery models, I found the Discovery mesh at turbosquid.com

$13? That's, what, a buck per polygon?

Would not be surprised if it is a ripped game model as STO has this ship last I heard.

Thanks, I'll download that one.

Update: it was in max format so I can't use it but thanks anyway.

That is not the one i was talking about. The one you linked is really really low poly.

If it is its a really bad ripped game model since the STO version you see in game seems to be a lot more polygon heavy.

Ah the one I saw on some blog was pretty blocky exp around the saucer rim. Maybe it was the article writers junky pc. Could be it was intended for that other trek ship sim game. Bridge commander I think was the name. Either way lol turbosquid. . . . that guy gets maybe 10cents of that price too.

If knightrider is willing to a FBX export from max should import through any app capable of FBX or using the FBX plugin often without all the negatives of 3ds obj etc. I think the max save is the wrong version for me to do it if he OKs export files.

Incidentally, Jason Isaacs, (Captain Lorca), is absolutely superb in "Death of Stalin", as General Zhukov

https://www.theguardian.com/film/201...downing-street

A stroke of absolute genius to play an obstreperous Soviet general with a strong Yorkshire accent.

I've seen an actual STO model ripped out of the game. They are a terrible mess and not very many polygons. They seem to be using normal maps to smooth them out and add detail.

Yeah, along that line...I've been working on a Kelvinized version of the Enterprise for a few weeks and was chagrined to find, yesterday - as part of a discussion going on at TrekBBS - that Madman1701A's already essentially done it with his Constellation model.

Damn it.

It is really easy to import an fbx file into Lightwave, if I can do it than anyone can. If you need help doing it just pm me and I'll walk you through it.

Returning to the show, What does everyone think will happen next season?

Well, the operation is simple, but the last times I tried it I got a completely unusable distorted mess.

Mind you, that was a while back, and I am on an old version of LW...

Well, sometimes you have to roll with it. I would just go through as you never know his take might not match yours.

Speaking of season 2 I hear they are having cash flow issues. SO half the eps or cut costs or CBS will have to pony up for the other half for a stream service that is not doing as well as they say it is.

FBX, all depends on what version of the plug you are using and how it was exported and where from. Generally exploded imports means a missmatch in the FBX plug in or a improperly set up export.

I was wondering what they'd use instead of the Balok puppet as the closer. I should've seen it coming.
