Did we ever see the ventral side of the Rhode Island? Its been so long since I saw the last episode of Voyager that I don't remember.

Depending on the timeline you are working from for your back story to the Chandra you could take it completely outside the box and add a spinal lance like the All Good Things Enterprise-D or even a Quantum Torpedo launcher like the Enterprise-E.

There were some ships that had 3 or 4 different variants, the Nebula I, II and III spring to mind or the multitude of Miranda class variations, there is nothing that says specifically that you need to have the Wave Rider shuttle in there at all, you could go a simple as a drop launch bay like the Defiant had if you want to keep the shuttle position but use a different style of shuttle.

Not sure about the episode, but there are clean orthos of the studio model out there (probably created for the official magazine or something like that):

Hi, not going as far as the Lance, but surely there will be something in place of the Secondary Deflector.

I am thinking in direction of the 2400's so a lot of stuff ought to be upgraded by then (like the quantum torps).

I know about all the variants but the problem with a shuttlebay there is the deck height - i want to add as much interior as possible and need to keep it consistent - for now i am adding a Type-11 Shuttle without Nacelles as a placeholder

For the secondary deflector, I will be replacing mine with something like Voyagers. I noticed that you also added rear photon tubes above the shuttlebay like I did, good. I thought it was a major design flaw into to have them.

No, no, the tubes will go away, they would block the main cargo bay.

The "Rhode Island Class" is considered a deep space escort/scout, hence main weaponry should be forward, aft Tubes would block the cargo bay and limit the ship's range :P

4 years have passed since my last post, much changes in life

Anyhow, i digged out the Chandra and decided to have some work done on her.

Still retexturing, at this stage i feel i am mostly happy with the bump map for the panels, although oppinions appreciated (panel size, protrusion etc.)

The underside shot shows a Type-24 Shuttle by SC452598073 in place of the Waverider (of course lining of the opening and some clamps to cover those nacelles are on the TODO List, the cutout in the Hull is already there)

Forgive the noise in the Window openings, i am struggling with rendering glow from the inside lights but i hope to fix it when i do the Interior properly (and install Point Lights in place of luminous materials)

The more i look at it, the more i hate the bump map, especially on the saucer top...

Back to UV or any other suggestion for this ?
Flat pannels wrapped around the contours or something else ?
