Default LightWave - correct import .fbx into LWIs

Is there a correct procedure to do the import modeler in 2018? I did an import but when I render the image was blurred. Maybe import into LW10 and port to 2018?

Importing an object shouldn't have anything to do with blurring the render. Check your camera settings in Layout.

I haven't had any problems with importing FBX into LW2018 myself. A model's a model.

Not had any issues at all importing or opening models. The only differences is the surfacing and rendering that need tweaking in 2018.

Imported Chris Kuhn's Discoprise, scaled it up to match the size of the Sinclear version. Renders of the ship are not clear.

Can you post some examples? Put the two ships side by side?

FWIW I scaled the Chris's model by 400% to match the TOS size.
I can do that later today or tomorrow. Would it help to send someone the .lwo file?

The surfaces "World Coordinates" checkbox is something to remember. Scaling in layout will yield odd results if any of the surfaces use world coordinates and you start stretchin' 'em. Check normal/bump layer values. Best practice is always to scale & texture in modeler.

I did scale and texture in Modeler only.
You implied check world coordinates box and normal bump layer values besides whatever was defaulted on?

Still trying to get a hand on the problem.. When I import, the lights are in a second layer. Would it help to play them in one layer?

I will turn that off.
When I imported the .ibx file, the lights layer seems displaced from the ship. Any way to fix this via a correct way to do the import, or just delete the light layer?
Edit: reimported in LW 10 and model looks better in renders than in 2018.
