Default Babylon 5 - Excalibur

The Excalibur from Babylon5.

I thought it would make sense to open a new thread for this model because it isn't for the B5/X3 mod and I plan to post a lot of WIPs ^^

I rebuild the original model first and will add more details from now on. (Beside a few separate things like the hangar, a few guns and the fighter launching system. Those have to be done yet.^^)

Because I haven't much practise in adding details, I would appreciate your ideas regarding to this.

Thanks guys!

Having trouble with those two mounted turrets. The original mounting does look a bit unstable to me. But I don't have an idea how to improve that.
Does someone have a better idea?

First pic: screens of the original
Second pic: my model without a proper support for the turret yet.

You are right.

That should do.^^
I know you made it this way, so it can fold itself together. I made it different because for the gun at the front it would be better to be covered from those big shields at both sides when active. So it will just lay back when inactive.
Not sure that this works for the smaller turret under the bridge too. I may have to make both versions.

Yes, I know, I said I am adding details.^^
But I hate details.

So here is the first base-texture for the Excalibur and the first UV-work.^^

I never really cared for the design of this ship. Because of its design lineage, it always felt like they just took the ideas of Human, Minbari, and Vorlon ships and smashed them together. Mind you, all of that makes sense in the context of what this ship is and the story surrounding it, but the end result always looked like the bastardized chimera that it is.

That said, you're doing an outstanding job with it! I may loathe the design, but the replication of it is absolutely superb.

I only watched Crusade once, but it looks like you're doing a great job reproducing her. Great work.
