Talking LightWave - Gridding

Hey everyone! Needing to pick the collective brain here. In the image, I need to put a transparent grid along the elevator. I know the game where this model originated has it but how can I replicate it in Lightwave? TIA!

Based by the reference image you can texture a plane object with a grid texture map using opacity, or you can model ti with simples lines and circles.to mimic the grid.

This is one where I think I'd use the texture map with opacity as Vitruvian suggested.
