Default BSG - Amiga Renderings: Viper Mk2

Hey all,

This is the effort of converting and animating Treybor's Colonial Viper mk2 for LW 5 and AmigaOS.

Since there was no particle system embedded in LW 5 back then, I used a program called Sparks for the Amiga and LW that is responsible for particle creation.

I then joined everything on Cinelerra (Linux) and used Richard Gibbs's music for the Miniseries (whom I even contacted regarding it).

This is the effort of a 4-month period since lots of things I did had to be re-invented or learned. Any way, I enjoyed every bit of working on my Amiga, which is still alive and kicking and in the wait for a new Vampire V4 accelerator !

Anyways, I hope you like it!

Yeah, my first taste of rendering was WAY back in the distant past on the Amiga... A500, A600 and finally an A1200 (with a self-installed 170Mb HDD). Wished I had the funds back then to get an A4000, but alas it was not to be!

Nicely done!

Aminet is still around? It was seeing animations by Tobias Richter on there that got me started on the 3D hobby. First it was Real 3D then Sculpt Animate 3D. A bit later I got Videoscape 3D (the predecessor to Lightwave). I had an A500 then an A1200.

Cool guys!

Nice to hear that! Yes, Aminet, EAB, Polish and German demoscenes, the community is still alive and kicking. We even get new hardware like HDMI outputs, accelerators and graphic cards by dedicated small companies that keep the whole thing going.

Right now I have 68060 with 256 MB RAM and SCSI to IDE adapters running my fast hard disks, along with a flicker fixer called Indivision that sits on a chip and outputs to DVI or HDMI.

We are now waiting for a new accelerator called Vampire V4.

Really cool stuff going on!

Very cool, it's nice to see BSG again. That was one of the best sci fi shows on tv. I loved the music.
