Hey Gordon, The kernel is just Direct Lighting. The other two didn't make much difference except blowing out the ceiling lights too much. The only lights are the ceiling and wall strip lights. Surfaces made into emissions. To get the extra strength on the LCARS images, I set them to a value of 8 rather than the default 1.

Something I started a while ago and keep returning to for half an hour while something is rendering and then back to work. This is my living room. I've built the whole of the interior to my house and will be filling up each room as I go. Good fun and something I can keep adding to for years.

Thanks everyone.

Gordon: Kernel is Pathtracing and has emissions from the light surfaces and an octane light shining through the windows.

Lewis: The samples were set to 4500 for each one.

Matt: Correct :-)

That looks really good Steve!

Speaking as a guy who used to do custom upholstery, something about the material on the couch just doesn't look real. It strikes me as being too smooth, too free of imperfections.

Now that you've got this going, any time to add or remove something in the real room, you'll have to update the model too!

Very cool project. I've never thought to do a real room in my living space, but it would be great practice.
The lighting on this is really good. But I also second the opinion that the upholstery looks a little too perfect.

Sorry for the OT...
I was thinking of upgrading my video cards, then using my old (GTX560) video cards
using a pci expansion case... Are there any good pci expansion cases out there that are good quality.

Any recommendations??

You'll get a far fuller answer to this on the Otoy forum I think. There are some serious power users over there. I think there are a few boxes, but they're bloody expensive.

Forget what i just said, for some reason rar files had become associated with a different program on my computer

I'll have to try Octane, the quality for the render times is impressive.

Yeah for a final I'd use more samples/time but i was really happy with render-times for such quality even on 3 expensive cards .

It's VIZPARK Interio Plants for what i did LW converison so i was testign out how would it work for Octane and with Juans' "Get Texture" tool it's pretty easy to convert them for LW+Octane with few clicks on each material.
