Thats... just... amazing...
Ive dabbled in prop making before (besides doing 3D stuff as a hobby), but Ive never seen anything that impressive concerning the Serenity on any prop board.
I bow before your skills!

Extremely cool, Alex
I never could do that in 13"
Maybe in the 1:72 version i'm going to build in styreen and which would go well with my 1:350 Enterprise 1701A and NX-01, but never in a 1:190 scale.
I'm very impressed, she is a Jewel.
I bow very deeply master.

That model is a work of art. Simply amazing.

As for the concept of that ship, it's the ugliest, foulest design i've ever seen and who ever at the FX studio green lit that goul should be shot in the hand.

That is funny because the first time I saw the ship I tought the same thing. It was quite different from what I thought a space ship should look like. Only after I got into the show did I start to appreciate the ship more and more.

Actualy, the design makes sense the cargohull is at the center bottom (like a sikorsky skycrane and a space 1999 eagle), allowing easy access wherever the ship can land and even if the landing gear should fail it still has a ferm base to put down.
Placing the cockpit above the big access point, the loading door, makes sense for security reasons and when you can land the ship you definately have enoug space in front of the main cargo door to load and unload stuff.
the crew quarters are in a sensible place too.
The reactor is conveniently put at the back of the ship and since the sleeping bunks for the crew are in the neck, the reactor is as far away from the bussiests places of the ship as possible.
All in all a quite logical design.

And she actualy looks like a firefly bug and i like those :
Dont say she's ugly, she is more beautiful and has more character then any ship in the Startrek, starwars or BSG verse

I understand the designe philosophy and I'm not knocking that, it's solid logic and that's cool. What I am knocking, and this my opinion, so don' listen if you don't want to, but it's the aesthetic. It's just not pleasing to my eye. It's big and bulky, and yes, it's supposed to because it's a cargo ship, but there are a mish mash or organic forms shoved in with machined angles and it's just a conflicting design; it's distracting.
I would like to think that I'm coming from this perspective because I've never been a fan of the show, nor have I really watched it, so I don't believe I'm biased in anyway.
It's just my upinion so take or leave, just don't take it personal; unless you're the concept designer who created the thing.

This is amazing... Good enough to use in a film. Too bad they go all 3D these days.
