Even unfinished, that thing looks amazing.

Keep at it Tony.

OK then, I guess I'd better get you guys caught up to where I am with this thing...

New turrets, largely based on a piece of machinery I spotted whilst playing through Halo 4 again. The guns (unfinished) are inspired by a vehicle model I found online but I can't remember where.

I like the turrets but I'm not too sure about the guns themselves, they may well get a 'do over'.

New missile bays, I did experiment with hexagonal bays but they looked awful so I went back to a more basic (and true to source) design.

** EDIT ** Bugger I just noticed an area of unfinished panels on the side of the front of the ship, between the EA logo and the big letter. I thought I had finished all of them. Damn they are tedious work, oh well...

What a wonderfully complex model you are creating. It's good to know you're still at it.

Wonderful.
Although, those big antennas on the top do look a bit out of place. Maybe you have gone to far with their detailing. My eyes are wandering to them every time.

So, I got my new phone today and it came with the new Samsung Gear VR. I decided to dust off LightWave and do some quick 360degree renders of this beast to load up in the VR just as an experiment.

I'm really happy with how awesome it is to see my model in 3D like this. I may even take the time to dig out the scene files with a proper environment and the rest of the ship

Who knows, this may be the push I needed to cut back on my Elite Dangerous obsession and get back into 3D and get this beast done...

If you've got any sort of VR headset these should work...

No VR headset here, but still great to hear you are dusting off LW!

Hmmm, so I guess it took a bit longer than I expected for my Elite Dangerous obsession to subside

So I picked up a copy of LightWave 2019 when it was on offer a couple of months back and since I've had a few weeks off work I'm finally getting around to trying it out, and, of course, seeing as the Omega is my true love of spaceship design it seems fitting that I have another go at this one.

So far nothing much new to show except the armour which I've made thicker and put those little nurnies around. Most of my time on this version have been taken up with drastically reducing the poly count from the last version (its almost half what it was).

Textures are of course temporary and anything in the plain light grey is just a low poly proxy object awaiting rebuilding.

I got the equipment above the landing bay rebuilt. The bow section is nearly finished.
