Default Movie & TV Related - Joe 90 Macs Car

Here is the next Derek Meddings classic i am working on , the interior is more guess work than actual ref pics but it will do i'm sure .
For people not familiar with the car the image shows what i will be making .

Ahhhhhhh Love it! Joe 90!! Looking forward to see Mac's car in all its glory. It flies, it drives and it floats.

Absolutely Splendid work, David. Have you figured how Joe and Mac got into the car now that you've built the front of it? I had the Dinky toy as a kid and couldn't figure that out for the life of me.

Thanks Pete, when I first started out, before the modeling I thought it would be an easy matter of putting a door in the cab ,the only possible way would be a door in the back, but that's not practical ,so the answer to your question is no .

Ive looked at a lot of images and stuff on this, not easy to see. The whole front probably slides forward as i can see no seams for the side to open. If the whole cab slides forward then exit from the back is possible, however i cant see any images showing a door from the back.

There are some good images on DA on the Air Car and others.

Nice start, used to have a Dinky toy as a kid. Good to see another GA vehicle being modelled, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Cheers Andy , John its a mystery , the only way in that I can think of are the windows ,but who cares ,since making these models I have come to expect one thing or another that does not seem right .

Oh of course and many of them do not stand up to to much scrutiny anyway. Looks like another great GA model you have coming on there.

Funny as this was actually my least favourite car of GA, i always liked the sleek lines of many of the cars and such and i always got the impression this was a kitbash of stuff and not particularly appealing to the eye, well my eye anyway.

It was the jet engines that appealed to me as a kid and the fact that it was nothing like any other car design .

Great work David. Mac's car is coming along very well indeed and I'm looking forward to seeing the next stages. Did anyone else have the toy car with a friction engine?

Cheers Rigel and Pete ! I bet that friction toy is going to be worth a pretty penny today .
I never knew they did a toy like that .

I wish I kept it in good condition but alas it was used as a kitbash spaceship several years later.

I had one of those when i was a kid. Loved it as well as many other GA Toys. Loved them all but was to stupid to realise what collectors items they would become.

My mum was really nice like that.

Back end sorted ,had to do a bit of the dreaded remodeling because the hydraulic back wings fouled the back drive casings ,now onto the final parts the engines .

Ok the final model ,as is normal with me now if any regulars would like the model and do it justice with a far better render email or PM me .
Not sure what is next ,I would love to do the elevator cars but I have never seen any plans ,again I know Thunderbird 5 has been done before I may give that a go so people here could link up with Thunderbird 3 so that may well be next .
