Default Architecture - Converting Stonemason's Urban 3

I bougfht the latest Stonemason set, and have begun the conversion.

It's huge, with 5 city blocks, typically half a million polys per block.

Loads of stuff in there too - the individual buildings are provided, so you can make your own arrangements if you wish. So fats I have just set diffuse to global 100%, low specular, medium gloss, smoothing at about 30.

No attempt to handle transparency or reflection yet.
ooks like I have some elements that need double sided polygons too...

It looks pretty good, apart from the road surface, not sure if I have that imported right.

Dome light and environmental lighting, not bothering with high AA at this stage.

well it's a nice start on the conversion. Has a kind of neo-Tokyo/Blade Runner feel.

Some more renders, I'm cleaning up more of the surfaces in these.

I'm coming to the conclusion though that this is perhaps not one of the best from Stonemason.

Particlularly the assembled city blocks, which have a strong tendency to have views out of the scene between buildings, (something he was VERY good at blocking in other stuff), and buildings in odd places, particulary the block 5 with tall buldings. Things like one building being directly in front of the windows of another, or buildings with one side blanked off for no apparent reason.

Still some good stuff here, (he is clearly going for flexibility with this set, rather than a fully prebuilt setup.
