It was some piece of equipment Ralph McQuarrie put in his concept artwork that never made it to the finished model.

The original concept art by Ralph McQuarrie is really hard to come by this is pure gold the only drawings i have seen is the ones done by Andrew Probert Excellent find Steve

I've been doing some cleaning up and making some adjustments to the Battlestar, the most notable change is to the front of the landing bays, or landing bay caps...
