Default Star Trek - Out of the Blue

Not sure how many more I'll do, just having some fun and trying out a new S/W package I picked up for photoshop. Anyway, I've come up with so many new backdrops I had to give this one a go.

Enterprise, background and sceneography by Bob McKain

Come on Bob... What kind of crap is this? The 241st pixel down by 418th pixel across is half a shade to dark of a blue... Your slipping old friend...

Nice Render...

Nice job as usual, what is this S/W package you speak of? Is it like Cosmic Pack?

Yep, and I am really enjoying it. The main thing I see is you need to work to make sure you're producing unique work.

Nice composition Bob!

My only crit is that there should be more blue ambient light on the planetside of the ship because the celestial bodies are so well lit, they would bounce a lot of light back out into space.

Lovely background Bob. But what's with the crystal ball in the planet's atmosphere?

@Delta: come on, mate, you know Bob has this thing about that particular pixel. Give the man a break!

You know Bob...when I first met you on the internet at Sci-Fi Art...I remember this 'Newbie' asking questions all the time...and I remember telling you the BASICS....what was that? 12 Years ago? Something like that! Around the time I was doing my shuttle on the old clockwork computer.

Boy...have you come a LOOOOONG way since then. I would happily print this out and stick on my wall. LARGE SIZED!

It's beautiful! Really beautiful.

Cheers

I actually agree with you but when I lit it that way I just didn't like the results so I backed the area light for the planet reflection off to about 7 percent. It's subtle but I still have some shadow which I just felt made it more dynamic. Maybe I should try it about half way?

It's the lens flare, from that angle it didn't throw much, since your the second person to comment it might be worth losing the lens flare.

Thanks Ivor, compliments accepted gladly. I still remember your shuttle thread and being in awe. Amazing how far we've all come since then and how few of that group is still left or around. Guess we're all gluttons for punishment or we're very sick individuals.

I like the second one. The light from the planet underneath the saucer looks good.
