Default Star Trek - TOS U.S.S. Defiant

I did a conversion of my Enterprise into the Defiant.

Redid the deflector dish and registry. Also made the bridge and b/c deck and upper saucer symmetrical as far as windows go. I have not done updated textures but I did fiddle with settings a bit more.

It looks great! I love how you modelled the mesh along the inboard side of the warp nacelles.

One thing, it looks like the three circles on the bow of the saucer have some kind of room texture in them. Those were supposedly sensors, not windows.

Great job! I've always liked the TOS Defiant.

Yeah that grill has been there since I did the Enterprise, just never really did a shot that showed it off til now. Dunno why it was a rather expensive piece poly count but I wanted a real grill rather than doing it with a lame texture.

You should of seen my PC practically have a siezure cutting out hundreds of booleans at one time. I didn't think anything of it until I actually did it. Next time around I would do a much smaller sample then just clone it to the length I need.

I was also tweaking my spec maps a bit for more contrast. I made the plating just a tad too discrete i think originally. I was going for the look it had in the show which was basically 'grey' all over the place but it needed something more because it just didn't look right.

Ah, well I can fix that bit. They just had yellow light like the windows coming out of them. I assumed they were just windows. That's an easy enough fix. Ditch the light box texture and add a pale yellow self-illuminated material in it's place. That should make it look like it did in the show.

Thanks, looks like I'll have to fix that one spot on the Defiant and my Enterprise but that should be a quick 5 minute fix.

When I'm feeling a bit adventurous I might even reskin her with new textures just to give a bit of a different feel than my Enterprise.

Thanks guys.

@Rigel: Yeah I wanted a better shot of the front end than the first shot. I was not too happy with it. I took more time fiddling around with angles and light.

Turned out much better than the first shot. Much happier with that one and the sensor array makes more sense than windows on the bow of the ship.

I was messing with the cosmic pack for photoshop and I liked the background enough to put it to a render with my Defiant.

EDIT: I'll have to update this one. It's botched. I dunno how I missed it. but something screwy happened with the layers. maybe I put something in the wrong spot or accidently chose a wrong blending mode. The top of the saucer in the back is all black.

Just looked at my psd file it came out that way in rendering. I guess no light was hitting that spot. Guess this needs a redo.

Fixed it. Think this one came out even better. Got a little bit more of the background colors on the hull this time.

Thanks. BTW when I said 'dish' I meant saucer. Glad I finally got some sleep.

Seems the 'edit' button is missing for me. I'd of just fixed it myself.

All fixed up for you. It reads "saucer" now.

Interestingly enough, when I read that line I promptly looked at the top of the saucer! So I knew what you meant.

Thanks Yeah lack of sleep for something like 50 hours tend to get a bit loopy and miss things.
