Default Fantasy - Lone Ship at Sunset

Just a simple scene here. I'm really getting to enjoy playing around with 3DS Max 2011 lighting systems and fog. I adjusted the Brightness and Contrast with Photoshop.

Nice image. Perhaps you can do a larger render next time.

I have not messed with the fog yet in Max. I've toyed with volume lights but they make me want to break stuff getting them to do what I want.

I kept the size down to speed up render times. I only enlarge mines when I'm confident the scene looks good enough.

I like it. Although isn't the ship a little low in the water? Something looks a little off there.

The Colors and style remind me of the last shot of the Goonies...

How long did that take to render? I haven't played with the particle systems much yet.

then doing a higher resolution isn't going to kill you THAT badly is it? :P

The MKF 7500 x 3750 image I did only took 50 minutes or so. I think a 1600 x 900 would only take like 12 minutes or so for that image.

These renders I do are only to test out Max's lighting systems until I could master them. I've already moved on to other projects. The ship is a very low-ploy one and looks lousy in higher resolutions.

But I'll render at a higher resolution later this week.

Well you can always turbosmooth it and see what happens lol. Probably will make it into a lumped shpere without control lines to hold it's shape
