Yep, they're tractor beams.

The stereoscopic effect was actually defeated by all the strong red and blue highlights in the image... when you try and look at it with 3d glasses on it just looks all jumbled. Which is why I'm pretending it's chromatic aberration instead.

That is a really cool image. All those lights must of been a pain to set up.

Yes I am a geek.
I have some ol'red and greens on my desk.
I see what you mean with the image being a bit jumbled when viewed with the glasses.
Perhaps try increasing the effect a bit?

Thanks everyone!

@Acidstorm - It was actually pretty easy to get all the lights in the right place using the VPR, that way I could see what each light was doing in real time. Even worked for setting up the volumetric spotlights
