Default Space - Mars

Mars, my revised mesh and maps - which are currently uploading in another tab of my browser!

I did two versons, one trying to match more subdued and realistic colours, and one with more dramatic tones.

5 images from each version:

Default Aelita arrives at Mars

This is one of the designs proposed for 'Aelita', a Soviet manned missionto Mars. The ship was nuclear-electric powered, (ion engines).

While the engines are very efficient, acceleration is extremley low, and it would take months to build up speed. Therefore the plan was for an extended period of acceleration, with the crew using LOK from the manned moon program once it was clear of the radiation belts, The crew would have plenty of time to check everything was working while still in range of Earth.

This monster would have been 175 metres long, getting on for the double the length of a Saturn V or N-1, and the whole thing was to go to Mars.

This mesh mainly based on photos of a model from the TsNIIMASH museum.Nick

I thought it best to go for the large PNG versions of images, to avoid any loss of fine detail or softness when getting close up!
