Cars - Volkner Mobile RV With Garage

Someone sent these to me in an email and I thought it was kind of neat. I went and looked it up and it's made by Volkner, a German company.

Anyway, neat enough I thought I would post these here for reference. There's some great interior ideas here if nothing else.

And I really have to question the wisdom of putting a TV screen there for the driver, does that not strike anybody else as just plain idiotic?

I do quite like that you have to raise the main vehicle on little stilts by the wheels in order to allow the stored car out though, I can imagine a complex Transformers style deployment like something out of Thunderbirds

I would imagine that the TV doesn't work unless the vehicle it stopped. At least that's the way it is on most vehicles with TV's up front.

And I don't mind consumerism it pays all of our pay checks.

As for being a monstrosity that's what I love about it. All the gadgets, buttons, and who knows what all it took to actually make it work.

Seriously though, some people buy these instead of homes and drive them to a location and stay there for six months or a year. They drive the car around and come home every night to the coach. I could almost go for something like that. Travel to a photography location and park it for a month or two and stay until I felt I had covered the photography well enough and then move on to the next location. Not a bad idea really.

Bob, I've seen this pictures before. It's a bit over the top for me.

Actually Rhys, although it is at the top end for RV size, it's not uncommon here in Canada (and probably the U.S.A.). When my nephew from Germany came over some years and spent two weeks driving around, when he got back he was talking to me about the huge RV's he saw everywhere. He asked, "You need a special license to drive one I assume?". Sadly, no; same license you use for your car and you are good to go with a 30 to 40 foot long 6 ton RV.

And as Bob said, many North Americans use them as homes, or second homes anyways. Here in Ontario, a big RV might run you about $120,000 to $150,000. A 2 bedroom cottage will nail you as much as $450,000 if it's in the popular area.

there's an uncountable number of perfectly legitimate uses for this bus. as for it being garish, just consider their target market (north america). we invented garish, so it's smart marketing, no?

Garish I could forgive, but the layout and functionality is badly outta wack, To much room and not enough space, Cabin life on the road or at sea is all about a blend of human space v's storage space. That thing has loads of human space but very little paractical space. Imagine comming in from the rain, wet coats, wet boots, perhaps fishing gear of perhaps just shopping bags etc. That one is kitted out as a Video room rather than a functional cabin space.

One of the biggest problems from a practical POV is always usable table space, just about everytime you leave the cabin space to venture out, the return invariably involves A Something that needs a table. laptop, camera, fishing kit, whatever you happen to be into, all ends up needing space to work, use, play, and the more storage compartmets to let you clear stuff out of your walking space the better. For an RV with so many clever touches, the interior is not just g\rish, it's kinda useless if you want to do anything other than sit on yer arse watchin videos (which ye coulda done at home anyways).

Super concept, just a shame that the interior is Prettyed up rather then being a functional space you could "Live in" comfortably

Unless of course you're just ma and pa kettle out to enjoy yourselves and coming back to the cabin is about nothing more than curling up to a good movie and then going to bed. There are people like that.

Just remeber you can always have one configured the way you prefer it. This just happens to be some customers idea of what they want.

That TV screen at the drivers position is connected to a video camera which allows the driver to see behind him/her.
