Default Star Trek - The Constellation-Class Thread

I've been thinking about building one of these for years, and have finally decided to make a start.

So here is where I am at the moment, after throwing out all the plans as being rubbish, and using the TMP Enterprise and photos of the studio model as my references.

That looks like a good start.

Hehehe, it funny how ever now then, some builds a ship and then everyone has to build it over there. Tobias, EG and now you.

Look like you got a great start.
You should speak to Tobias, EG as they have some really great refs.

I actually started it before tobias started the thread there, so it is more shear chance than the involvement of band wagons. I leave those to the younger Miliband

Well I've done a bit since last time out... I started off by altering the panels on the lower bridge levels slightly. I found a better ref shot of the TMP Enterprise which showed them more clearly. Then I thought I might as well go ahead and add the pinstriping around that area.

The main thrust of the work over the last week though was to get the lower saucer shield grids cut. Before I could do that, I decided I needed to make up the two pairs of breasts, and the cutouts for the udders, or angular warts, or whatever. Let's call them the thingies. So here she is now...

Well I didn't do that. I played Mass Effect 2 instead, which seemed to take over my life for a bit

Anyway, I have done some work on this ship again now - completed the basic sensor probe area. I think a lot of people reckon that's meant to be some super-duper phaser cannon, but I'm not having that Tis a sensor probe It will get more detail at a later stage.

So I have finally sat down to this for long enough to finish off the other lumps - the coffins (yes, I know I haven't quite finished the rear tits - I shall deal with those another time).

I decided these things just had to be filled with some gubbins... and then I added glowy bits. Might tweak that over time, but I shall see how it all looks from a few more angles first.

Haven't posted here for a long time... This thing is still kicking around, so it's time for a quick update. Just finishing off the modelling at the moment, will probably return to interior work at a later date.

Overall this is nice.

However, your greebles a) don't fit the Star Trek universe and b) look like odd pieces stuck on for visual interest. In other words, they make no sense.

The corridors are very excellent. Mind you, those Starfleet uniform boots are going to slide on that metal floor.

I would agree with you, but for the fact that the greebles are as per the studio model in this case. It's just how this ship is.

And yes, I did contemplate a reworking of the design so that the detailing made more sense, but in the end opted to stay true to the original.

Incredible, you have really thrown down the gauntlet for anyone else that is making one of these, or is taking a four year pause from making one of these.

I've never really seen photos of the studio model so didn't know they'd greebled it that much.

Very nice. I've been doing so much low polygon modeling these days I kinda just drool over these high poly beauties.
