What a bloody awful name!
Yep, Bond22 today named 'Quantum of solace', which is the title of an Ian Fleming short story and apparently some government operation name or some such. Doesn't help it be anything other than a crap name for a Bond film though... |

Say what you will, I loved Casino Royale and I'm very much looking forward to more of Craig as 007

Odd name, but as long as Daniel Craig is back, that's all I really care about.
Best Bond ever IMO, and I am fully aware of what I am saying, as I loved Connery. deg |

Hmmm - well, we'll see - I'm just glad that they decided to hold off on Bond 22 rather than trying to rush it out in 2007 - just to get the "007"... I do agree that DC was one of the better Bonds in a long long time since Connery. (although PB was pretty cool as well...)
I did some search on the net and it seems that "Quantum of Solace" is not a spy story and Bond appears only in the background. Told in the style of W Somerset Maugham, the tale has Bond attending a boring dinner party at the Government House in Nassau with a group of socialites he can't stand. <snip>... ...</snip> While the story does not include action elements, as other Fleming tales do, it attempts to posit that Bond's adventures pale in comparison with real life drama. Bond reflects that the lives of the people he passes somewhat superficial judgments upon can in fact hide poignant episodes. Quantum of Solace has been announced as the name of the 22nd Bond movie, although it remains to be seen if any elements of the story will be retained. |

I liked Casino Royale. I've only ever read one Bond novel and the latest movie struck me as being more like the novel character.

It was annoying that PB didn't get a chance to be Bond earlier on due to contract issues with 20th Century Fox / NBC re: Remington Steele.
Everyone else was fully aware that he would be great in the part. Check the Series 1 DVD cover: Image Copyright 20th Century Fox |

I was hoping it was going to be "Property of a Lady." For one thing, it sounds more Bond-like, and for another, it seemed apropos to the likely plot, going from the end of Casino Royale.

I couldn't agree with that more. I actually think he was the best Bond, but all of his movies fell short for one reason or another.

Oh yeah - I saw on Xtra today that the movie takes place 20mins after Casino Royale... and the Bond and M has a secret meeting in the back alley on a snowy night. So far - some of the filming looks pretty cool... =)

Sounds like an appropriate, if daft name.

I must admit to agreeing with Crook on this one... I only just heard the title in the last few days myself and when I did the first thing I thought of was "huh... weird name...". It looks like it should be a good one though given the few clips that I have seen.

If memory serves it was the New York Sunday Times leaking the news that PB had landed the role of Bond, taking over from Timothy Dalton (no comment
) which caused the ratings for Remmington Steele to spike and thus NBC to invoke their clause in PB's contract uder which he was forced to make another series thus Dalton continued in the role for longer than either he or some of the fans thought appropriate. In the context or a reboot, which Goldeneye was I bought it and I still love that movie lots but times change and even thought I went on record as disagreeing with the casting of DC prior to seeing Casino Royale (not because of the choice of actor but the way it was reportedly handled by the producers) and I went into the cinema wanting to hate Casino Roayle I left feeling that the makers of the movie had done a great job. DC was for me anyway surprisingly good as a newbie Bond, the plot, considering it is based around a card game was surprisingly good and frankly the last thirty seconds were the best of any Bond movie for a long long time (barring Moonraker possibly ). Will I go and see number 22? Without a doubt pretentious name or not. ![]() |

very odd name, it means "small amount of comfort", which is said to relate to the end of the last film,ie bond getting his heart broken, dose this mean its a revenge story?
in a news report it is said to be bassed on a collection of short stories, not just the one of the title, |

Goldeneye was only good for the game, and while Die Another Day had its moments, they still missed the mark in a number of areas.
