Just finished this one.
A P-3C catching a Juliet class on the surface as it attemps to shadow a US carrier group.This was a commission for the VP-45 Association ![]() Oil on canvas 36" x 18" Orion's Game As with my last few paintings the scene was first created in Lightwave with the render becoming the main reference for the painting C&C always welcome Pete |

P3's never carried ASROCs (Anti-Submarine Rockets). Those were for skimmers only. What you're seeing on the wing pylons are Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
As for the painting, it looks pretty good, except for the engine nacelles. They're too pristine. P3's usually sport a heavy line of exhaust residue on them. These planes took an unbelievable amount of abuse on patrol and had a lot of grime and soot to show for it. The pilots flew 'em like bush pilots --low and slow, as they laid Bear Traps. Been there and done that --great times! CC |

Cheer guys for the kind words, I'd forgotten about this post myself.
In a terrific postscript the painting is now with the VP-45 Association and has been accepted as a donation for display at the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola. Needless to say I'm very proud of this. Pete |

Well, when a post in on my list of unread every morning I look at them. Noticed I had never replied and decided, late is better than never. I think a good example of why we don't close threads, the TO wasn't disappointed.
