It has been a long time since I did a trek render.
Bob McKain's Enterprise approaches a scene of massive destruction. Background made in Terragen 2. |

Very nice image...! Love the comp..!
Would you be willing to go into a bit more depth on how you created the BG.... Only one slight nit-pick... the impulse engines seem to be radiating different colours? besides that, fantastic!!!! ![]() |

Thanks Shaggy
![]() The difference in colour is down to the surfacing of the impulse engines shaggy, it uses an incidence angle gradient that changes colour depending on the angle it's viewed from, I may change it if I plan another shot with similar camera angles. The background is actually a bit more difficult to explain, since it makes extensive use of Terragens node system, for displacement, surfacing, reflection and atmosphere, would you be surprised if I told you that the planet had an atmosphere? |

....see, and I would've said the impulse engines were different colors because port engine was giving a hotter burn for a minor heading adjustment.

Very nice composition and lighting. Is the bloom on the Enterprise done using a plug-in (Bloom/Corona) or is it done in post with Photoshop? It's a lovely effect.

Very impressive image! Lighting is spot on!
I had no idea Terragen could make space backgrounds like that. Excellent work! JMoney |

Ahh, very sweet. I really like the etheral glow on the nacelles, the effect is quite pleasing. I wouldn't have thought the incidence gradient would be so pronounced on a shot of this nature. I would have thought they would have to be much further separated for that to happen. Still, I love the image, thanks for making use of her again.

Cheers Tangster,
Select, colour, change to highlights, copy, paste, change layer to screen and filter with gaussian blur till you get it the way you want, reduce layer oppacity if you want and repeat for stronger effect. |
