Default Movie & TV Related - I'm Putting a Team Together - updated June 3

Howdy all,

Since posting my last image of Iron Man and wanting to take my animations to a higher level, I decided it might be cool to try to include some more characters. I was fortunate enough to be been offered help from Starbase 1 and Today to get the ball rolling. Both of them help in bringing the Hulk to life, but resources were hard to come by. One model obtained free from the net proved a pain to rig and although the other model from Starbase 1 was pretty damn cool, being a poser model proved to difficult to rig successfully. I have you guys to thank BIGTIME for helping out and getting the ball rolling for me.

I searched the net for other artists who had made max versions of the Hulk and I was happily surprised when one guy offered me the use of his Hulk. As you can see, its a pretty accurate model of the one from the second Hulk movie. He had originally made it in Zbrush and Max, but it was rendered in Brazil materials. As I want to do my renders in Vray, I can tell you the transfer to Vray was a lot of trial and error. From the render, you can see Im getting pretty close a hallelujah moment. Yurij Yuzvovich is a Russian modeller, rigger and animator with a great skill set. He has taken my Captain America and fully rigged him as well as Spider Man. The big plan now is to produce a short teaser style animation with these characters, plus two more Avengers that are presently being worked on. I wont say which characters, but I can say they are two of my old favorites and Yurij is doing an exceptional job on making them. Got to say I'm pretty excited. So the basic premise of the teaser will be Iron Man booting up his engines and taking off in pursuit of the USS McCain Aircraft Carrier , where the other Avengers are awaiting his arrival. As Iron Man lands they all walk up and join him facing off to there enemy. Final shot will reveal who that is. I'm hoping over the next few months I can continue to offer glimpses of what's to come. So enjoy this test image. Im still working on textures. Any offers of help would of course always be valued. One other reason I wanted to do this, was that there is not any superhero animations out there that I have seen with all these characters in it. I reckon this is going to rock.

Nice Marty, maybe could you do one with a bit more light?

Can hardly see Spidy at the moment, I know the sky is overcast, but its not nighttime.

I can recall comics where Spider-Man was working with the Avengers; they're all good friends apparently. It isn't going to happen in the movies unfortunately because of the rights they assigned to Sony for the Spider-Man movies.

Good start on this Marty. Something bugs me about Ironman though. The red on the armour doesn't look red enough and doesn't seem reflective enough.

Having only seen the trailer for the Avengers so far, and I have not seen Iron Man 2 yet either, I was curious if anyone can explain why the Iron Man in AVG has a Triangular glass port in front of his Arc Reactor versus the Circular one in the Iron Man movie(s)?

Or is that a spoiler?

PS... I agree that Iron Man looks a bit washed out color wise too.

The circular reactor started to fail in Ironman 2, so he built a better, more reliable one which is a triangle.

Good thing for me I dont need rights.....right ? lol ! This is just a WIP. As with the guys at ILM, they experienced the same problems with Iron Man and lighting in each scene. It was major hassle as with each lighting set up , his armor appears majorly different. This is the same texture used in the previous thread I posted, and wanted a slightly less crimson red and more orange. This render was a single pass and nothing fancy, so this is why each character will be lit slightly different and of course rendered separately. The bugs will be squashed mate. Cheers to you !

You can't please em all.

I can agree with some of the posts re. Iron Man colours, but if ILM had issues, what chance us mere mortals?

As for guessing the next member... 2 out of the six above ain't a bad guess. So that leaves Red Hulk, Spider Women, Hawkeye and Protector.... ermmm, I'll go with Hawkeye.

The lighting issue is no biggy.............just fiddly.Iron Mans texure has 3 layers, so it also picks up a great amount of light. Change the setting a bit and you get a big difference. Tweaking has become my full time profession. Well buddy I wish I could say yes to your guesses. All I will say is that they have both been Avengers numerous times and perhaps one is more famous than the other. If all goes well, I should have a render of the next character tomorrow...................and he frickin rocks man.

Fantastic project to be involved in! And from what I can see you’re off to a superb start..great work..Looking forward to seeing more

Edit: Although I know you’re not going to be using this back drop in the final work I think it is worth mentioning the lighting, colours and shadows. Lighting in the second render is pretty dam close but the colours for me are to vivid/ intense making the characters look a little un-natural. Lighting, colours and shadows in the first image are more Subtle and believable, matching better to the back drop giving that little more realism.

Your so right mate. Im pretty fortunate to of found someone to join me in this project who has the skill set to match my vision. As for the renders, yes your right. Right now Yurij is busy building the characters and I am making textures and testing rigs and lighting set ups. I wanted to get some shots done to show who we have and what we are trying to do. The first image was the big trial and error case. Each character was rendered separately using vray HDRI, a dome Vray light and sun. Each characters lighting was different. The only 2nd pass I did was an ambient occlusion pass. So I didnt go to town on these renders at all. But like you said about saturation.........im on that buddy. I want them all to have a reasonable amount of realism, so until we get further along, the renders will be fairly simple. Im still working on textures to get them right and to tone down Cap and Spidey especially. Iron Man will get a new weathered coat of paint in the coming days if I can it done also. I will say this to all of you who are reading this. If you have something you think you could offer to this project, drop me a PM and we can go from there. It would be great to have some more help Thanks for you thoughts buddy.

It has been confirmed/denied as being The Thing.

I think. Maybe. Okay, maybe not.

I can keep a secret but my price is 1 million dollars Canadian (it's occasionally worth more than the US dollar these days).
