Default Misc - Kerem's Sketchbook

Hello again friends... I know I messed up the forum a lot with couple of unfinished projects - the reason that my life changed a lot lately and it affected my work in many ways. Even the software I am using

So right here I decided to create one topic to put all my works in progress and results. And I hope it is okay to post fully finished works to the gallery section on the forum. And of course staff can delete my other orphaned works in progress topics if they like. Totally okay with me - except the Harley Davidson one of course. I like it and it plugged to the front page once

I actually love posting forums and get critiques. But many big forums turned posting into a really big deal. And I never get any feedback like I get in here. So I'm always happy to be part of foundation 3D.

Default Mars Scene

Today I started a quick personal project. Mars environment with some artificial ruins.

A procedural terrainn with Terrain fractal...

A Height field terrain - mixed with custom Photoshop brush.

Result of hight field terrain with custom Photoshop brush is to create feeling of hand made ruins with natural effects on it. Of course a simple one to just to fill the composition.

I kept the brush resolution low (1600 pixels) in purpose. On Vue's terrain editor it creates blocks - because of the low anti aliasing caused by the low resolution of the brush. Purpose of this blocky parts is to give an artificial feeling like someone used to established there.

That last shot looks nice. It's just visible enough to give a hint that something is there, but not enough to give us all of the answers; it creates mystery.

Ive got to admit, if Max was not my main program, I would love to explore Vue in more detail.Ive only scratched the surface. Mate I like what I see so far and will be keen to see more. That last image is really nice.

Imagination is fine. After all, about 100 years ago, educated scientists were telling us Mars had canals which clearly indicated the presence of a civilization, although it apparently ceased to exist. If they can do it, so can you!

@today: Thank you!

@Marty Miller: Thanks a lot... I'm also a C4D and Modo user. Always had an intention to switch to Max - but my budget wouldn't let me to do so.

@Rigel: Many thanks for your support... I watched a Mars documentary once about those Canals. As I remember it caused a big mess because of a translation mistake French scientist (I think) meant the naturally created water channels but people thought it was canals made by someone or something

It looks like a great start. I like how the slats on the building are bent and buckled in places; that really adds to the realism and reduces the CG perfection.

Today I took a brake from it and started working on a treasure chest model. This is the base mesh I've modeled for Zbrush...

Today I started Poser to put together some girl figure to fun but I just couldn't do it. Not because I am not able but I stopped in the middle because I've felt a weird boring feeling that I'm taking steps back. I just can't go back using those stuff anymore... I really need to learn how to create my characters from scratch to full rig.

Very much so - only not really as capable as either in my opinion.

It just might be of interest if you want to understand how they make the figures as its open source and highly collaborative. But I suspect you really need to just start pushing polygons in the modeller of your choice...
