Default SciFi - Castor (again)

Still exploring this model.
Inspired by Firefly/Serenity, so here is the Castor on the raggedy edge.

As usual lovely use of light and colour.

Only one thing strikes me as a bit off - how about some heat haze behind the engines? (Lower in particular)

I love this image. Cool to see a space ship actually fit into an atmospheric condition.

That's VERY cool, I'd say with Nick that some heat haze or dark hot smoke (like when I fighter pilot properly clogs it).

Cheers!

Loverly, loverly, loverly!

But we can still see through the laser housing.

I modelled the inside on that on my copy.

That's probably the best one I've seen of this besides the original... nice work mate! Add in some heat trails and we'll have a winner.

Like Treybor said - best done after the render is complete, in PS!

Thanks everyone
I've made a few adjustments - filled in that pesky laser housing, added some heat ripple and a touch of exhaust.

I'm going to see if I can seperate the laser housings and make them retractable and able to rotate.

I've rigged the lasers to rotate. I don't know if there's room to retract them or not.

The exhaust and distortion looks great, excellent job.

Cheers!

I've already done that, I'll PM you the copy. It doesn't have the engine flairs though.

And, excellent update to the image.

Thanks Bob, that'll be great.

Thanks everyone I'm glad the update works, my heat blur is all to often more a miss than a hit.

That's great. Very well integrated into the background plate and well lit.

Awesome lighting and render, but I think a half pixel blur might be in order to help match it to the background better?

Thanks again everyone.

@ Woody, thanks for the suggestion, I've given the ship a 0.5 gaussian blur
I hope it works - my eyesight is very poor and I can't really discern any difference.

My vision is better than normal and both images look fine to me with a teensiest higher score for the new one.

Nice work.
