Default REQUEST - Airfield shots for compositing?

I've been approached for a fully professional project involving a proposal for a real space craft. One part that has me a bit nervous is that they want some shots of it ready to launch and launching from a small airfield, (by which I mean nothing like Heathrow).

I think compositing onto a photo is the only way to go here.

In practice it would be launched from the UK or Norway, so I need shots with nothing in to give away the location is not there, probably something like a chunk of tarmac fairly close to the viewpoint, without people. Probably one portrait orientation for a launch, and landscape for landing. (Launches like a rocket, lands like a plane).

It's relatively small as these things go, about 5m length. (I can't go into more detail at the moment, though I hope to soon).

Does anyone have any images I can used, or suggestions for where I can buy one at a reasonable price?

I found the rather nice cloudscapes by Bob, which should come in handy for an in flight shot or two.

Nick

I'll pass this onto one of my friends, he is a keen aviation photographer and heavily involved with aircraft restoration at RAF Bentwaters. He may be able to sort something out for you.

That would be brilliant!
Thanks.

And it's for a proposed British lifting-body type spacecraft called EARL.

I live ON RAF Wittering, just off the A1. The runway is about....oooh, 200 metres from where I live...and is unused at the moment. If you are still interested I could pop out and take a few snaps if you want. Let me know what angles/time of day you want and I will try to help.

Cheers!

I've not got long, but it would be great if you could!

The craft is basically a wedge 5m wide 5m liong and about 1m high which goes up vertically and lands like a plne.

Basically I need attractive shots with a hole about the size of a light aircraft where I can plonk EARL in. Also if possible a closeup shot along the runway whre I could add it coming in to land.

I'll add more info when I get home from the day job.

Thanks,
Nick

Thank You!

I may well be asked to model the next iteration of EARL, so they will likely come in handy. Mind you every aircraft needs somewhere to land, and I can't help but notice that Thunderbird 2 would sit nicely in a few of those...
