Another wad...
A new docking radar - this one should rotate well in 2 axes. Plumbing, a fairly abstract heap of pipes! Porthole, a fakle window. Raligun meant to be some sort of pellet induction weapon... Nick |

Starbase1:
Thank you. I like the use of pipes. I see the docking radar as being useful in a retro SF image; I'm not sure that modern ones would have large visible gears. Though *I* like them; I'm into retro SF. |

Thanks very much to all who have contributed to this fine thread. I decided to check out how some of the uploaded greebles fit onto my latest model and I'm impressed to say the least. I have another question however: can we modify the greebles - as in move certain parts of them around or extend tubes etc? Credit will still be given of course and none taken for any modifications. It's just that sometimes the available space on a model might require or beg for parts of a greeble to be modified - that's the only reason I ask.

I used your "greeble3a" Elowan - which is the one I modified the most. You had your widgets and fings all set on a square plate and what I did was remove the backplate and also - where you have those tubes coming off the thing on the right and going up and then left to another set of widgets - I extended that a lot so that the end widget is actually rather a long way away from the rest of the greeble. I also used one of 3DCG's panels but all I did with that was stretch the back panel a little to make it fit better. There's a pic here that shows what I did. About the biggest change I made was to extend and bend Elowans pipe ...... I mean .... pipes lol |

You know what I'm thinking? I should add to this.
You know what I'm REALLY thinking? There should be a Greeble/Nurnie Appreciation Challenge, where the participants have to assemble meshes SOLELY out of the greebles/nurnies on F3D and make a render out of them. Anyone else think that would be fun? |

Well, I was referring specifically to anything in the Nurnies/Greebles Resource section, and there are a number of good ones in there that could be used for bulk sections of a spaceship or something. Plus there's always the loophole: if there isn't something you really need, make it and add it to the Nurnie/Greeble resource section, just making sure that it's nurnie-like in appearance.

Hydraulic piston. Waiting fot Bill in Resources.
Enjoy. I must be a moron because trying to upload a .lwo file in Resources produces an error to the effect that the file format is not acceptable. |

You know, it would be really good top get this moving again, with more contributions. I'm particularly thinking these would be very handy for rapid development, and a consistent look and feel for the 'encounter' project?
Anyway, recovery chute awaiting the attention of the mods over in resources, and here's a picture in the meantime. |

I am humbled by so much talent here. This is amazing work you all do. The time it takes to make a model is long enough, but to make it look realistic with the "right" textures is another story all together. Good job.
