YES like i said don't think it needs to be lined perfectly 'coz it won't especialy in this tutorial where we didn't have proper BPs so Bob was scaning 1:15 car toy or so
. Your screen looks fine to me. |

Ok. Now for a GOOD question!
How did you reverse the color of the images in the backdrop. Either that or changing the color of the splines would be helpful. Neither of which i can figure out how to do! |

go to Image editor and there you can edit brightness/contrast of Backdrop images and you can use Invert also. Like with any texture/image in LW layers editor

Im afraid I may have the need to get this thread active again!
Ok, so my few years away has led me to feel like a total noob. And part of my excitement of finding your tutorial again has faded because it just seemed like when this was on the original forum you were more precise about steps and I felt it helped me alot more. Which leads me to my problem. I have succeeded In placing out the frames for the entire car. I am SUPER happy with how it turned out. However, im confused on the process to start patching. Im familiar with selecting four points in a clockwise fashion and hitting "p" to patch. But i cant figure out what it is you have done to create the new lines. Im boggling my mind goign through the tools remembering how it is you surface the way you do. Can you explain a bit in detail how you create the first patches. Im looking at your screenshots and wondering......are you creating new splines with the bezier tool then once you have a four sided box then patching? Is that more efficient then selecting four points and patching? Attached are a couple screens. Me choosing the 4 points and then hitting p. Im afraid this isnt gonna work. Will you tell me in detail how you start the process. Im afraid I dont understand the instructions enough in the PDF as it doesnt go through the tools you use after the Splines for the outline of the car are done |

Hi !
To make a spline PATCH you don't select points, you need to select SPLINES (4 of them and only 4 in this case). When you select 4 points and hit "p" you make a polygon .Check out this short tutorial video I recently made about splines and spline patching. it might help you to understand it better. http://www.foundation3d.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=5243 |

Ok thank you for the clarification on that part. Now here is my inexperience with the tools speaking. I know you use the bezier tool to begin with. I am familiar with that. When it begins in the tutorial to show a red dot everytime you place a new point...what tool are you using at that point?
Also, when you select two points that are lets say across from each other on seperate splines.....how do you create a sline that connects them? |

To clone new point to location i was using "extender" tool and "move" tool. Select point, hit extender (point is cloned but sits on same position as one you cloned) and then use move tool to move it to new location. To make a spline from points you select points in CW order or CCW order and hit "ctrl+p" as "make open spline".

I just wanted to say that I joined this community just for that mustang. I was starting to follow the tutorial when I found it.. what, a year or so ago? and it dissappeared!!! I am so glad to find it again and start over (it's been that long) and get back into the 3D modeling game.. My job doesn't really 'require' 3D models anymore, and I've been letting my modeling fall off.

Hi everyone - I'm a newbie to this site, and LW in general, but I have heard great things about this tutorial, so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
Quick question - I have LW10 installed, with no 3rd-party plugins, will that be sufficient for the tutorial? If not, will I require any specific plug-ins? As I said, I'm a newbie, so be gentle with me :-) Cheers, Jock in a Frock |

Hi and welcome, Well LW 10.x is pretty newer than LW i used for making it 10 years ago so i guess you are probably good to go with native tools
. If you get stuck somewhere let us know and I'll suggest plugin if needed. |
