Default Resources and Promotions

I've been busy approving resources this morning and I wanted to inform everyone that we promote members who upload resources to "Contributing" members. Contributing members get the following perks:

A Maximum of 60 Stored Messages in their PM box
Can CC up to 5 other members on a PM
And 25 megs of storage for their Personal Gallery

Transfer List

What has been transferred to date. If a model didn't make it then it was either corrupt or we no longer know who published it. I am listing the sections only for brevity.

Sweet. After finals are over, I'm going to have to give my Stargate model a once-over (I want to retexture the low-detail versions) and put it up here.

I'm working on porting over all the old content.

If you register and find that your model has already been upload just post here and I'll get you promoted. I know several publishers haven't had an opportunity to get registered and logged in yet and we need to make serious progress rather quickly.

We're plodding along, we've recouped about 200 models from the old site as of 1321 MST today.

The first tutorial is up on display now too... I think it's going to be a little slow going but we'll get there - once I get them up, I'll also be promoting those users too.

The Science Fiction section is so large and counts for nearly half the models that I am listing it by individual sections as I complete them.

Do conversions count towards contributing member status, or only original works?

Either way works, a contribution is a contribution.

In that case, I guess it was just bad timing as I uploaded obj and LW7.5 conversions of Taranis's celestra right before you started porting over the old resources?

Nadesico is going to help move files across. That should be a big help as he has several more hours to put in on it a day that I do. I have just a few hours each evening to do anything and then weekends. To this point I've gotten around 300 of them so I think we can actually knock this out now.

Thansk to Nadesico three new sections were added over night and over 50 models went online this morning. We now have somewhere around 350 online.

In addition 45 memebers have been promoted to Contributor status in since goiing live. Thanks everyone for all the support!

Out of curiosity, are the promotions automatic or manually approved? because I submitted two conversions last saturday and I'm still listed as a Registered Member? no rush, as of now I haven't actually uploaded anything to my gallery, and haven't sent any pms, so I don't actually need any of the special features../..

It's a manual proces son this part so I must have missed it. Check you PM's, all set up now.

Do we have duplicates to take care of as i think I may have uploaded a model which would have been in the old system? (The iwar dreadnaught)

Cheers!

Hi Craig,

I think we caught that. We're trying to check them against what has already been uploaded before we upload them.

Also, in cases where there may not have been a appropriate category causing the publisher to upload to the root category we are creating one and moving the resources to the new catagory. Unfortunately the resource manager is not sophisticated enough to notify publishers of the change.

Hope that answered the question and alittle more.

Bob

Hi Bob, I'm loving the new site and hoping to be a bit more active again now that I finally have a decent internet connection at home.

I had just one model I'd uploaded to the old resources section and I'm glad to see that it seems to have survived (particularly as I'm not sure I ever had it saved on my home PC ). The only thing is it's under my old screen name from the LWG forum (which was ZP3D) so I was wondering...

1) If it could be re-credited to reflect my new screen name here (not particularly important but it would be nice)

2) (...slightly more importantly) If it will count towards Contributing Member status?

I know you're all pretty busy with saving as much stuff from the old server as possible so I don't want to hassle you guys, but I thought I'd ask.

Oh, the model's "UFO Saucer" in Science Fiction>Ships>Other.

Cheers for that Rigel... it makes me feel like a contributing member, even though I never get enough time to build anything :P
