Default Safe Holidays

Well, it's that time of year and since I'm the resident Health and Safety Officer allow me to impart some safety precautions. You may know them already but this is a reminder.

1. Don't drink and drive.
2. Check all electrical fixtures like Christmas tree bulbs. Don't overload your outlets and turn off all lights when you go to bed or leave the house. The lights could short out and start a fire.
3. Make sure kids toys are safe for use.
4. Buy fire resistant trees if possible. If using a natural tree the fresher it is the less likely it'll burn like an old one.
5. Place trees away from heat sources.
6. Never use electric lights on a metallic tree. The tree can become charged with electricity from faulty lights, and a person touching a branch could be electrocuted.
7. Discuss with your family the escape routes out of the house and where extinguishers (if any) are located in the house. Keep emergency numbers handy. First-aid kits too. It's wise to have you and your family learn basic first-aid. You never know.
8. Supervise your kids. They tend to go ga-ga at Christmas (better watch some grown-ups too).
9. Do not eat out the kitchen then go lie down. It's been known that people choked to death since they throw up in their sleep.
10. Bacteria are often present in raw foods. Fully cook meats and poultry, and thoroughly wash raw vegetables and fruits.Be sure to keep hot liquids and foods away from the edges of counters and tables, where they can be easily knocked over by a young child's exploring hands. Wash your hands frequently, and make sure your children do the same.
Never put a spoon used to taste food back into food without washing it. Always keep raw foods and cooked foods separate, and use separate utensils when preparing them.
Always thaw meat in the refrigerator, never on the counter top.
Foods that require refrigeration should never be left at room temperature for more than two hours.

So have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and be on the safe side. Besides, who else am I gonna bother wtih no one around, huh?

So digging the crayon out of a receptacle with a metal fork is a bad idea then?

LOL

Geez Charlotte, it sounds like you live in a dangerous place down there. Remind me to never visit the Carribbean.

Oh, please come on down.

Giant Anacondas
Man-eating Crocodiles
Poisonous snakes
Mad cows
My mother-in-law

.....what's unsafe, huh?

And since I descended from a cannibal tribe I'll eat ya! Americans and Europeans tastes bland though. Dunno about Canucks- do they taste like Maple Syrup?

(NOTE: The above was meant as a joke- I have nothing against Americans, Europeans and Canadians except for that awful sitcom Friends, That stupid singing French Frog and Bill's unwashed socks.)
