Default Stargate - Stargate: Daedalus class

I started this ship in october, but in the meanwhile i develop some other things (such as the ancient battle cruiser). I've just decided to complete this ship as soon as possible, because next week i'll have a new computer, so i'll can try to create some animation.
Application used: 3ds max 9; actual polycount: over 385 k.
C&Cs are welcome!

Good stuff! I have been looking all over the web at different peoples rendering to hopefully work up the will to learn lightwave and build one.

How long did what you have right now take to build and how long have you been using 3ds max?

BTW: thanks for the reference materials!

Thank you mates!
well, i started this ship last october, but during all this months i did some other works, such as the ancient battle cruiser. Also, i don't like so much this ship; in fact i asked some times ago to other people if they could send me a copy of their daedalus, but for some reasons they don't. So i tryed to do my version. It's incredible how many details there are on this ship.
I don't like to work on something too popular; everyone are able to create this ship, it's a simple shape. I'd like to create rare and difficult ships, but i'm planning to create a little animation where i need daedalus, so here i go.
I started with 3ds max over one year ago.

that makes sense, life gets in the way alot. Makes me wish i had boat loads on money so i could just do stuff like this on a wim without concequences.

I gather the detail part is the tedious one. I think its popular because of its shape too. Have you tried your hand at any of the farscape stuff or ship from random sci-fi flicks ( like taken, serenity, babylon 5 )?

As for other not willing to send out materials, i have run into the same thing. I was hoping to get my hands on Mallacores stuff at one point, but no luck. I want to create paper models and i need a 3D model to create the paper model print out. Since i havent yet done a 3D model to print and i have several here i am still building, its kinda hard to start the 3D rending learning curve.

Awesome.

Looks like you did a great job of nailing the overall proportions, which has always been an issue with some of the SG-1 ships

Um....I'm not sure if the thing next to that other thing is properly proportioned

Default Yeap...

Yes it is very accurate!
Concerning the polys, of course I had to downsize a bit. But that's easy when you have a great model to work with!

Well if you decide to sell it just say man.

Cheers
