Default First Ever Models!

Alright everybody, I (and doubtless many others) want to see your very, very first models. Or at least the first ones you still have a copy of. They say lead by example, so here goes:

I think the lobster was actually a class assignment, we were supposed to build a humanoid character... I got bored and decided it looked more like a lobster.

It doesn't work with FF2. You can either do them one at a time or go and get the IE Tabs. Right click on the reply button and select show it IE Tab. Then it works.

My first models were MANY years ago, and in imagine on the amiga. needless to say, I don't have the models or renders to show anymore, and I suspect the world is quite happy with that situation. Having said that, I just found some old stuff! Laugh! The last two (fighter and startrek) are LW, the others are Imagine.

Cheers!

Craig, I love the electric kettle turned aquarium; that's a marketing concept just waiting to happen.

Also, the robot dog looks pretty decent. I remember hearing a lot of talk about people using Imagine some years ago. I guess it's passed on?

My first models don't exist. They did up until about three weeks when I started wiping my personal data from my Amiga 1200. See, that's the thing, my first models were done in Videoscape 3D on the Amiga. My w.i.p. for the Universal Joint is one of those early models and shows renders of the actual Videoscape model (rendered in Lightwave though).

All else is gone.

I started in Imagine on the Amiga also! My first models are long gone.. back in the 90s I would build things out of primitives before I learned how to weld. I do have my first completed image. I made it in Animation Master almost 8 years ago now.

My first was the rocket ship from Myst. Never did figure out how to get those fins to have the right cross-section.

This is the first I still have a copy of (well I think I have the mesh kicking around on a cd somewhere)... actually there were only a handful before this one and none of them are worth ever being seen again

I can't believe I still have these saved on my computer, though for nostalgia's sake, I'm glad I do Back when I first started using LightWave 5.6, I was lathe-happy

I was actually really proud of the chess set back then, and in all reality it isn't too bad. but it certainly isn't great either The wine and shot glass...yeah. And that crystal ball, dunno what prompted me to do it, lol.

I haven't rendered any images to show it off, but I did start to model the Ambassador class, and only got as far as almost completing the saucer section. I may have to actually complete it someday

Ah fun idea. I use my very first model and render of it as my desktop (this version), my biz card, and for my website theme.

Simple and iconic one artist from Marvel Comics told me.

Ah now then, my first model technically would have been a chrome cone, with a chrome donut wedged on top of it, on a green and white check floor (I remember it so clearly), but needless to say I don't count it because i didn't save it

Cheers!

P.s. I guess i should include my povray/polyray/moray stuff to

LOL too funny Bill. Oh yeah, I forgot I used to mess around in Bryce and Strata 3D way back when. I don't have any of those renders though. Besides, it was just messin' around. Nothing worth countin'. I didn't really start 3D until I got LW about 4 years ago, and immediately built my rocket. I remember that day clearly too.

That's from the al3d tutorial, innit?(I'm not sure, but I think Fabio might have wrote the thing, I really can't remember)

Small world, anyway. An EA shuttle from that tutorial is what finally taught me enough about Lightwave that I could finally embrace it fully, way back.

I know I've got some of my old-old, embarrassing POV-Ray stuff, I just need to find it....

Yeah now we're getting somewhere. sigh.. back when 800x600 was a HUGE render. When you could hit the render button on a scene with 50k polys and if you were really lucky.. and there was no transparency or reflections... it might be ready by the time you woke up in the morning.

Ok, you asked. While this is not exactly my first model it looks just like it only a different word for who ever we were advertising for. They all looked basically the same and for about 4.5 years I made flying logos, zooming logos, spinning logos, rotating logos, fly in over your head logos, shrinking logos, exploding logos, shiny logos, logos, logos, logos!

Gadzooks! I can still model them with my eyes closed even on LW 9.x; then all we had was 3.5 or something like that.

At least yours is somewhat textured. I never got that far.

I think many would agree that the B5 shuttle was the model that all noobs first tackled for the longest time.....myself included, LOL.

Nowadays, however, I suspect it has been replaced by the Kurv Viper.

Edit: Well, maybe not all noobs, but there were sure a lot of them popping up in the forums. LOL

I still get a rash thinking about them.... narrowly escaped the Logo trap myself.

That tutorial showed me what modelar is abouth, and I am still learning what modelar is ALL abouth.

Both my first and second models, the first was built in Bryce 3 and was suppose to be a skyscraper. The second was also built in Bryce and then rebuilt in LW 5 (I think was my first taste of LW).

Nice scene of the defiant and 1701-e. Looks like it came right out the film.
