Default Movie & TV Related - Serenity - Reaver Galleon Ship

I found some times ago some amazing pictures about the 2 biggest Reaver ships from Serenity, and i decided to try to create both of them.
I started with the Reaver Galleon ship (you can see it in the screencap).
I love the design, and it's very very detailed. This will take several months to me only the modelling part.
Not much to show actually: i'm working on the head of the ship.
Comments and critics are always welcome!

Nice start Davide. The skeletal bits of the framework are noticably low res though, you can see lots of segmentation already. Given the level of detail this ship has I think it'd be a good idea to raise the number of segments on the main body of the ship to match the smaller stuff that comes later.

New update: I increase the number of segmentation in the main framework, so i have to create the plating again.
I have to play with the smooth parameters to adjust the weld line in the different section of the ship.

Thanks Gordon!

More details... now she's looking like a ghost galleon.
i've have to adjust the ropes over the panels.
It's interesting to notice how many times they (the original artists, in this case Perez) used the same details on different ships. Some details of this ship were used also in the stargate daedalus, and some daedalus's details were used in the galactica.
C&C always welcome!

Excellent progress Davide! It's coming to life now that the detailing is being added.

And this happens more often than you might think For instance I built a high res water tower for Cloverfield a while ago, and it got put onto the system as a re-usable asset. It has since shown up in 4 other films

Awesome work Davide. Gives me a hankering for making a space ship. Must resist the urge to start another WIP.

Looking VERY nice David. I have to agree with Rhys, this is coming together really well. I hope you'll be willingto share once it's done.

Great start on the engines there Davide, but I would suggest you slow down a bit!

Some areas - the forward shell most of all - have very obvious polygonal patterning on them that is ruining the look of the model. With all the raised detail on the shell it's very obvious that you originally had a sphere and that you're just extruding random polys on it to get some depth to the surface. But because you're keeping the poly layout pattern it's not only obvious what you've done, but it also spoils the effect a bit. Reaver ships are meant to look random and disorganised and the raised panels look very geometric. I'd say too geometric. I think you'd be served better by having random panelling shapes that don't follow the poly lines of the original sphere.

Also, your edge breakup is quite low detail compared to other areas of the ship. You've got a lot of sharp corners and squared blocks that could be made so much more interesting and believable for the design if you rounded them off, or added a finer level of jaggy edge detail on those areas to break it up and make it look more like sheared metal than just as if someone deleted a load of polys from a sphere again and called it a pattern

You've got a great start here, I just think it'd be a shame to lose the overall effect by having some areas that are too low res.
