Default Star Wars - Star Wars Detailed Prop Pics

Stumbled accross this while looking for something else.

The pics were taken at Boston's Museum of Science.

Lots of closeups.

Wow, now there's some quality reference! If only it was easier to bulk download :P

(EDIT: URL hackers may want to play around for easier grabbing http://www.forbiddenplastic.com/ref_...rs/mos_mf/img/ )

Thanks Foomandoonian.

Yep - it's just too good to keep a secret.

Works on several levels for me - the detail the model shop put into the props, especially on the MF - the 'weathering' of a working space vehicle, etc.

The nurnies on the MF are well done and can serve as a generic nurnie reference for just about anything. Too bad they don't show up on the big screen that much.

I'll never look at the the MF w/o remembering these pics.

Thanks for posting the links bfx and Foomandoonian- this kind of detailed reference is invaluable! Some of these are clearer and from better angles than any I've seen. I also like the models of thoretical interstellar craft at the bottom. Its cool to see the ILM model makers add their sense of design and greeblie detail to these often-seen designs.

With this links, the few I've listed and a few others, we may want to start a consolidated reference image thread/threads/etc.

These are wonderful resources.

That exhibit is in town now at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and I am going next week. Can't wait!

Those are great pics. The thing about practical models, they are less intensive to create, as sure look at all that detailing, but the thing is, it's all just parts taken from kits and glued on (albeit with some thought in mind, although some of it is just slapped on).

Now with CG model building, you have to actually fabricate every single piece of that same type and level of detail by hand. Each and every tiny bit.

Thumbs up

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! The X-wing pics were EXACTLY what I needed! I'm currently working on a LW refit of my old X-wing I built a few years ago in RayDream Designer. I used the plastic model kit for reference on the original build and it really had many of the details wrong. of all the recent ref pics I've downloaded these REALLY show me how badly my original model sucks. Long story short my engine is a complete rebuild!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the link. Lots of nice detail shots. If anyone's interested, there are some exhibition shots on the Star Wars Technical Commentaries website at www.theforce.net/swtc/.
