Schools computer animation competition launched to inspire the next generation
Animation10 is open to all UK schoolchildren aged between 7 and 19.
The deadline for entries is 1 April 2010.
Animation10 is run by the School of Computer Science at The University of Manchester, and is funded by Google and Electronic Arts, and in association with BBC 21CC, and cs4fn.
Entrants can create their animations (maximum duration: 1 minute) using any of the following programs: Alice, Scratch, Flash, Greenfoot or Serif DrawPlus.
There are great prizes, and the Animation Festival and Awards Ceremony will be held at The Lowry, Salford Quays, Manchester on 9 July 2010.
The 2009 competition attracted 800 entries from more than 200 schools, with over 400 children attending the Film Show and Awards Ceremony day at The Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. Visit the 2009 Winners Gallery at www.cs.manchester.ac.uk/Animation09/gallery.
19 January 2010: Competition launch, website opens for registration.
1 April 2010: Deadline for submitting entries.
3 May 2010: Shortlisted winners notified.
9 July 2010: Film Show and Awards Ceremony day at The Lowry, Salford Quays, Manchester
